Read these short informations here. I collected them day by day this year and presented first on the facebook fanpage Digital Humanists. I will once a month or for two months present them all together here.

SCIENCE & STUDY

How important are they for you? Professor Jan Strelau told in an interview with Andrzej Tucholski something like that, if someone doesn’t come back to studying with passion, it means, if time doesn’t fly away for one while studying, one can’t be a good scientist. It’s somehow true in my opinion. My time is really flying away while last correction of my PhD. The 5th day of 2016 is also passing by.

GRAND PARENTS

Today is in Poland the National Grandparents Day. That’s why I share this video. https://www.facebook.com/antena3/videos/10153420815306298/

CAMPAIGN

On Februar, 14 a campaign One Billion Rising Poland against sexual violence against women and girls takes place in many different cities and villages in Poland https://www.facebook.com/onebillionrisingwarszawa/

VALUES, VIDEO

For humanists are values often very worthy. Last week a webinar with a philosopher Chris (Krzysztof) Skowroński took place and everyone can watch it on youtube. Which valuable webinar/video do you recommend? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05mbTdHZ8ng

MOTTO

„This community understands the meaning of networks. Here meet heart and mind.” – is it a good motto of digital humanists?

DIGITAL HUMANITIES

„None of us is fully in control of what Digital Humanities is”. It’s crucial to find out „the way the digital transforms what it means to have a humanism”. David Parry http://www.outsidethetext.com/about/ #‎digitalhumanities‬ ‪#‎digitalhumanism‬ ‪#‎digital‬ ‪#‎humanistic‬ ‪#‎human‬ ‪#‎cyfrowahumanistyka‬ ‪#‎cyfrowyhumanista‬ ‪#‎cyfryzacja‬

You are humanist and/or want to make something good? Make a social campaign related to human rights! You can get inspired and prepar you, using these materials of two ex-co-workers of advertising branch. Thanks to @Lektury Badacza for sharing this info on the fanpage!

What does it mean for you to be a humanist? For me it means to act against discrimination and violations. Yesterday I was a witness of a crime. A wallet was stolen to a foreign man. I’ve got confused and didn’t know how to react. I think it’s a result of lack of reflection how to act against negative behaviour of other people last time. That’s why I read this article again.

Next collection of short information I will publish here soon.

What do you think about it? What do you want to get to know more?

Media, archives, storytelling https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2015/06/media-archives-storytelling.html https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2015/06/media-archives-storytelling.html#respond Wed, 24 Jun 2015 16:36:00 +0000 Do media need archives? What has storytelling to do with archive materials? Stories holded on archive sources. Archive sources could be included into media narratives on a attractive way, e.g. using storytelling. There are at least two reasons for it. The stories become „second life” and media don’t have to construct content which can be useful and interesting for its audience. They can use ready sources.

These questions were the issuu of the conference and workshop „Learn – Do – Share”, on June, 24, 2015, in Warsaw. Read some insights of it.
Top of the top was the presentation of initiator of this event: Lance Weiler – http://bit.ly/lds2015.

Lance has shown us this storytelling & Internet project „Sherlock Holms” and named these

.
Some presenters talked about theoretical and practical concepts related to media:

– perceptive media – audience can influence the content, e.g. „Perceptive media Breaking Out”, see here: www.futurebroadcasts.com. The aim is to accept different versions, different narratives in the same „space”.

– transmedia storytelling means to integrate different media at one place, e.g. presentation, project. An example is a presentation which contains of audio and video podcast instead of text and photo.

Last but not least some networking projects:

https://www.ethereum.org – alternative space for applications

https://www.snapchat.com – a social platform for short docu-films

Social und media start-ups:

Getifinity.com – application „Virtual Warsaw” for people with disabilities and cultural institutions

– Peeky: 1. Moments (postcrossing), 2. Living for the news, 3. Local info (geoquestions) (SaaS business model), 4. Click: click with your local businesses.

– Plan.es – Polish communicator – similar to Yik Yak application

The program and abstracts of the talks you will find here: http://learndoshare.net/.

Space to grow https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2015/06/space-to-grow.html https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2015/06/space-to-grow.html#respond Thu, 11 Jun 2015 19:48:00 +0000 Why growth is so important? Lack of growth leads to stagnation. Obsession of innovation is the other extreme. On June, 11 (2015) I participated on lectures dedicated to growth and space to growth within an independent Ted event. The event had a title „Space to grow”. I especially enjoyed the lectures of Magdalena Kozłowska-Deć, Hoang Minh Ngo and Dawid Sokołowski.

*Magdalena Kozłowska-Deć – works with women within Fundation Center of Women Promotion (Fundacja Centrum Promocji Kobiet) and within the biggest Polish festival of development PROGRESSteron, co-author of book for retired women about organisation of events („Przygoda nie tylko dla wnuka”).

*Hoang Minh Ngo – IT worker, certified interpreter, social activist from Vietnam; board member of Social-Cultural Association of Vietnameses in Poland (Towarzystwo Społeczno-Kulturalne Wietnamczyków w Polsce), editor of paper Que Viet; organiser of demonstration against politics of hegemony of China.

*Dawid Sokołowski – leader of the network of reasonable business. More about the network you can find here.

More about the event you can read here.
