We learnt what we need to act against discrimination: knowledge, skills, reflection -> motivation to act. These reminds me of the concept of Swiss Johann Pestalozzi „head, heart and hand” [głowa, serce, ręka]. It means that our mind, feelings and actions should „act” together.

Mechanism of discrimination in short looks like this. / Mechanizm dyskryminacji w skrócie wygląda tak:

We shared some links related to discrimination and education:

Workshops „History and human rights” https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2013/01/workshops-history-and-human-rights.html https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2013/01/workshops-history-and-human-rights.html#respond Tue, 29 Jan 2013 22:02:00 +0000 http://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2013/01/workshops-history-and-human-rights.html History education can be connected with the field of human rights. Since 2010 I’m attempting to do it on a theoretical and practical way. I worked out a theory and methodology on it, which could be useful also for you. You can download it here. You can also download workshop scenarios for work with adults and pupils here.

In December 2012 and Januar 2013 I presented the materials to the librarians who could implement them later on in their societies. I have now a lot of practical experience and many conclusions which I applied for the textbook which we (team within the KARTA Center) prepared.

Teaching materials to human rights https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2012/04/teaching-materials-to-human-rights.html https://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2012/04/teaching-materials-to-human-rights.html#respond Sun, 29 Apr 2012 18:24:00 +0000 http://agnieszkakudelka.pl/2012/04/teaching-materials-to-human-rights.html Teaching human rights is a challenge for people from different fields and institutions. That’s why the Centre of Human Rights Education of the University of Teacher Education in Lucerne is organising the Human Rights Education Symposium in Lucerne. The topic of the Symposium in 2012 was the developing of teaching materials on human rights education. I took part on following workshops:

1. “Inklusion als Menschenrecht” Online Manual for Pedagogical Practice / Materials for Human Rights Education in simple Language (Dr. Claudia Lohrenscheit and Meike Günther, German Institute for Human Rights)
2. Toolkit Holocaust Education – Human Rights Education (Dr. Eva Sobotka, Equality and Citizens Rights Department, European Union Fundamental Rights Agency).

3. Human Rights Education (HRE)-Training for Civil Servants (Kirsten Roberts, Irish Human Rights Commission)

The programme of this Symposium you find here.
